We had to do this.

Nobody was talking about the link between Sustainability and wasteful practices in the materials world and unsustainable practices in the Creative Industry.

We were.

In fact, every time we talk about the topic of Sustainability and Waste in the Creativity Industry, we get the same reactions.

Here they go:

Almost without fail, we often see people looking at us like this:

🤯😳😲

“This is mind-blowing. I’m shocked nobody is talking about this. This is jaw-dropping.”

And as we talk through it, they generally transition into this:

🤔🤓🤩

“I’m curious. This isn’t bullshit: these are science facts. This is amazing.”

And sometimes, the reactions even look like this:

🥹😭😍

“I’m touched. This is so human. This is a beautiful way we can think of the future.”

Whether we were alone or together discussing it, we knew this needed to be a thing in the world, and it needed to be NOW.

It was like we finally hit bedrock after years of digging through sand.

Oh yeah, about us. Hi! We’re Brandi and Fe. Fe and Brandi. And we mix and match the order we introduce ourselves.

Fe Amarante, founder & principal of Experimenta

The future of creativity lives in a new definition: Sustainable Creativity. I'm a Founder & Principal (in other words, I’m actively present and leading the work), bringing my experience, tools, resources and humanity toward the creation of a hyper-collaborative method created to apply everything I learned toward a really, really different (and quite certainly not everyone’s cup of tea) approach to Creativity.

I am a Designer, Creative Strategist and Leader and I don’t know how to do any of these things without my full heart in it: I believe in real humanity as the core engine of creativity.

Professionally, my work has resided at the intersection where design, human-centricity and creativity meet.

I have two decades of experience that started as a designer in advertising and design agencies in my home country Brazil, and have led global Fortune 500 consumer brands as a creative leader at the Hershey Company, Danone North America and Coca-Cola North America. I can speak multiple Design languages — in-house, agency and everything in-between — in addition to Portuguese and English.

Visual Arts (Fe is copying Brandi’s bio): I’m an illustrator and painter, mixing abstract work with fine detailed illustrative ideas.

Movement: hiking in the mountains, yoga on my mat, running when my ankle cooperates, lifting to stay and remain strong.

Zero Waste Creatives: aside from being the co-host, I am the content creator, logo designer and Square Space figure-it-outer of this show.

Brandi Parker, founder of Parker Brands

I started one of the first Sustainability roles on the brand design agency side. Sustainability has been a part of my process and work for at least a decade, when I realized I didn't want to just perpetuate pretty trash. As I come from the technical side of design, my expertise extends to printing, structure, materials, sustainability across verticals, business development, workflow and planning strategies as well.

I'm a bridge — an interpreter between worlds — the creator/maker world and the engineering/technical world. I live between both and can translate between both. I just so happen to specialize in sustainability and packaging.

I have over 20 years experience in the design industry — most of that in packaging specifically. Prior to packaging, I spent a few years in advertising and also the tourism industry.

I'm progressing the discipline of Sustainability forward, drawing deeper connections between our sustainable future and the power of design.

Visual Arts: I'm a multimedia visual artist, specializing in figurative and abstract works.

Music: I am a songwriter, composer, singer, guitarist, bassist and record my own music.

Zero Waste Creatives: aside from being the co-host, I am the editor, musician and have the best recording equipment out of the two co-hosts of this show.
